Moscow Confirms It Supports Mediation Efforts to End Mideast Conflict
In an interview with Russian state media, Safronkov explained that Moscow maintains “almost daily” contact with all parties involved, advocating for an end to hostilities and the initiation of political negotiations. He also emphasized that Russia is offering solutions to address concerns surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.
“Moscow not only confirms its readiness to carry out a mediation mission but is already taking corresponding steps,” Safronkov stressed.
He commended the diplomatic efforts of Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan in seeking a resolution, noting that Russia “actively supports” their initiatives.
Safronkov warned that historical experience shows attempts to resolve regional issues by force often exacerbate tensions, rather than bringing stability. He highlighted that current hostilities in the Persian Gulf are having “a profoundly negative impact” on Gaza, the broader Middle East peace process, and regional stability overall, according to reports.
