Israel Destroys Ten UNRWA Buildings in Gaza
(MENAFN) Israeli air assaults have demolished 10 facilities belonging to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza City within the last four days, including seven schools and two medical centers that were acting as shelters for thousands of displaced Palestinians, the organization’s commissioner-general stated on Sunday.
“No place is safe in Gaza. No one is safe. Airstrikes in Gaza City and the north are intensifying. More and more people are forced to leave, disoriented and uncertain, heading into the unknown,” wrote Philippe Lazzarini on the platform of the American social media firm X.
He emphasized that UNRWA had to halt medical services at the Al-Shati refugee camp.
“We were forced to stop health care in Beach (Al-Shati) Camp, the only health care available north of Wadi Gaza. Our vital water and sanitation services are now only at half capacity,” Lazzarini explained.
He added that “our teams – 11,000 in total – continue to provide critical services in other parts of northern Gaza and the rest of the Gaza Strip,” commending their perseverance in offering support to residents living under “inhumane circumstances.”
Lazzarini concluded with the question: "How much longer until action is taken to reach a ceasefire?”
Meanwhile, the Israeli military has been striking tall structures across Gaza City as part of its continuing campaign to take control of the area, directing civilians to relocate southward to a “safe humanitarian zone” in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis.
However, that same location has been targeted by Israeli fire over 100 times, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of non-combatants.
