Russia, Belarus Kick Off Live-Fire Exercises in Belarus

(MENAFN) A critical stage of the joint Russia-Belarus military exercise Zapad-2025 commenced Monday in Belarus, featuring high-intensity, multi-domain combat simulations designed to test the allies’ readiness against external threats.

The current phase includes coordinated fire missions by infantry units targeting simulated enemy forces. The operation integrates live ammunition drills, drone-led airstrikes, aerial support, and agile motorized fire teams maneuvering on motorcycles and buggies. Defensive systems are also activated to provide air cover.

Ground troops are advancing without armored vehicle support, which remains strategically hidden and deployed only from concealed positions. Robotic systems are being used for the extraction of wounded personnel and damaged hardware from the battlefield.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry stated that more than 150 journalists representing around 15 countries have been invited to witness the concluding phase of the drills.

Running from September 12 to 16, the Zapad-2025 drills aim to solidify Russia and Belarus’ coordinated defense posture within the Union State and underscore their capability to counter any external military threats.
