Japanese university considers taking in Harvard international students
The administration under Donald Trump has taken steps to strip Harvard University of the authority to admit international students. The move also threatens the status of those already enrolled, as they would be required to transfer to another institution or risk losing their legal residency. Officials reached this decision by revoking the university’s certification under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program.
The university started a program in 2022 to momentarily back researchers and pupils whose studies were affected by the conflict of Russia and Ukraine, allowing them to use research labs and staying in dorms without fees.
