Iran warns to halt collaboration with UN nuclear watchdog
(MENAFN) Iran has warned of halting coloration with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in case “any hostile action” arises toward Tehran.
In a collaborative press conference in Cairo on Tuesday, FM Abbas Araghchi with his Egyptian Premier, Badr Abdelatty, as well as IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that: “in the event of any hostile action against Iran – including the reinstatement of cancelled UN Security Council resolutions – Iran will consider these practical steps null and void."
The snapback mechanism was triggered by Britain, France, and Germany last month in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which inevitably reinstates sanctions until the Council determine otherwise in less than 30 days.
Araghchi stated that: “the message is clear: Iran will never compromise on its sovereignty, rights, or security. At the same time, Iran is demonstrating restraint and responsibility by reaching an agreement with the Agency to allow continued cooperation”
An agreement was reached on Tuesday in Cairo, by Iran and the IAEA, on continuing the agency's activities in Tehran with Egypt as a mediator.
