Kuwait, Jordan Rally Behind Qatar After Israeli Airstrike
(MENAFN) Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met on Wednesday with the crown princes of Kuwait and Jordan, who voiced unwavering support for Doha following an Israeli airstrike on its capital.
Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah reaffirmed his country’s “firm and steadfast stance in condemning and denouncing the brutal Israeli aggression against the State of Qatar,” pledging full solidarity with Doha, a Qatari news agency reported.
Sheikh Tamim requested the crown prince to extend his greetings to Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and expressed gratitude for Kuwait’s “sincere fraternal sentiments and unwavering support for Qatar.”
During the meeting, both sides reviewed bilateral ties and exchanged perspectives on regional and international issues, the news agency added.
Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II also underscored his nation’s “absolute solidarity with Qatar in safeguarding its security and stability.”
“The security of Qatar is the security of Jordan, and the kingdom puts all its capabilities at the disposal of its brothers in Qatar,” he declared.
Prince Al Hussein further warned that ongoing Israeli attacks “undermine efforts to restore stability in the region.”
The Israeli airstrike on Tuesday targeted Hamas leadership in Doha, killing five Hamas members and a Qatari security official. Hamas confirmed that its leadership survived the attack.
Qatar condemned the strike as a “cowardly act” and a blatant breach of international law, vowing not to tolerate Israel’s “reckless behavior.”
The Gulf nation, alongside the US and Egypt, has been pivotal in mediating efforts to end Israel’s war on Gaza, which has claimed over 64,600 Palestinian lives since October 2023.
